…at 250 knots.

That’s one of my favorite quotes.

If you thought that was a hint, well, you might be right: we’re hanging out at Club Mallard for the 65th Super Tuesday.

(And if you tell me whose mantra is “He took a duck in the face at 250 knots.”, either author, book or character, I’ll buy you a Big Burger at Al’s.)

Club Mallard. AKA The Duck. Super mellow, totally chill, not exactly empty on Tuesday evening, but not too crowded either. Might even be a pool table open.

You can find me at Al’s Big Burger just down the road around 7:30, then Mallard around 8 pm.

Stop by for a snort.

Here’s the deets

See you there.

#64 Super Tuesday Something Different

by doolin on May 23, 2011

We’re on the road, into the city, for a snort and a burger at The Irish Bank
10 Mark Lane, San Francisco, CA.

Easy to find: two blocks up Montgomery from BART, turn left and 2 blocks up Bush; Mark Lane is halfway up the block on the left.

I’m taking the train, but the Sutter Stockton garage is a block away and inexpensive.

Around 7:30 as usual.

#63 Super Tuesday Spring has Sprung

by doolin on April 20, 2011

It’s that time again, Super Tuesday Party time!

And finally the weather has turned. We have daylight in the evening. More fog, less rain, and even some warm sunshine. Feels good. Don’t know about you, but that was a long winter and I’m glad it’s over.

Happy Hour!

We’re doing a happy hour at Hotel W at 6-ish on Friday April 22. A bunch of us did one of these a few weeks ago for The Highwayman’s birthday. Looked almost like a Super Tuesday reunion. We had a blast, and thought “Hey, let’s try that with Super Tuesday for real.”

Hope to see you there!

On the road again…

After a long run at Dos Palmas (RIP the palms, who are no more), we’re making like WIllie and on going on the road again.

For sure we’ll be in San Francisco, possibly twice: once in the Mission and once at Ocean Beach. The Mission is close in, I expect you to be there! Ocean Beach will be in the Sutro Heights area. A far piece, but not as far as Redwood City. Hope you can make it. We’ll have advance dates for both, soon.

We’ll see you here

Tuesday, April 26 2011
Any time after 7 is fine. Pot luck. RSVP.

#62 Super Tuesday Party ramping up again

by dave on March 17, 2011

Friends. Relations. Subscribers.

Ladies and gentleman, boys & girls, dogs & cats…

Ok, maybe not dogs & cats.

Super Tuesday Party enters Year 6.

I’m amazed. I think I’m also horrified: Do I own this party, or does it own me?

But who cares?

Year 5 was a slow year by design. Your hosts Dave, Janet, Deacon and The Highwayman made a strategic decision to ramp it all down for a year, see where we wanted to go with it. Ramping down wasn’t hard. Stop recruiting, stop blogging, send lame emails 1 day beforehand. Easy peasy, attendance drops into maintenance mode.

Those days are over.

We’re ramping back up in 2011.

More details as the year plays out, but expect a LARGE 5 year anniversary party, and NOT necessarily on a Tuesday…

Greetings Sports Fans!

Sexy referee girl with footballIt’s that time again, Super Bowl – I mean Super Tuesday – Party time.

On January 26, 2010, we’re going back to Oakland for the 48th Super Tuesday Party, where Dave Bach-y-Rita is hosting at his place a block or two from Lake Merrit. Here’s Dave’s digits:
306 Lee Street, Apt 310
Oakland CA
(415) 823-2810

He’s at Lake Merritt and a 20 minute walk from the 19th street BART station.

7:30 or thereabouts.

(Note: Super Tuesday’s 4th Anniversary is coming. Mark your calendar for February 22, 2010.)

We’ll have the usual fare for dinner, but let’s do it up right with the munchies. Here’s what we need:

  • Chex mix.
  • Beer, preferably Bud and PBR.
  • Veggie tray. Make sure it has the blue cheese dip.
  • Nacho chips. Like, Doritos.
  • Or, your favorite football snack. Traditional is best.
  • If you loathe football, then make it your baseball snack, hockey, whatever. If you loathe sports in general… well, that’s cool… just bring your appetite; all good.

Here’s the rules: No shopping at Whole Foods, Berkeley Bowl, Bi Rite, Rainbow or any other crunchy granola venue. Instead, find this stuff at Safeway, Lucky, Ralphs, Krogers, whatever.

Exception: our host Dave Bach-y-Rita is making

home made ice cream!

Bring your favorite toppings, and feel free to get those anywhere you like.

(Note: Super Tuesday’s 4th Anniversary is coming. Mark your calendar for February 22, 2010.)

Mixalot totally gets it. This month’s cocktail… Jack and Coke (no question). If you need a recipe, it’s easy: pour yourself a coke, drink some, fill it back up with Jack Daniels Black Label. Or just pour the Jack right into the can. We’re not picky.

Music

Let’s see… what’s some good Super Bowl type party music… here we go: Guns n Roses, Use Your Illusion II.

This one takes me back to USMC days… really popular I recall in September ’00. I put 5000 miles on my red 4×4 Toyo that month. That’s a lot of GnR on the radio. And a lot of driving too.

Still good! Rock and roll!

Ice-cold Blast from the Past

We’re going back to Super Bowl XX 1986 for this one. Bears vs Pats. I remember watching this game. What a rout, 46 to 10. And when The Refrigerator scored, we practically fell out of our chairs:

New NFL record: the first refrigerator to score a touchdown. What a game! Walter Payton. Jim McMahon, what a nut. Good times!

(Note: Super Tuesday’s 4th Anniversary is coming. Mark your calendar for February 22, 2010.)

The Super Tuesday World

Welcome new Super Tuesday alumni Lydia S and Jee K. Lydia is connected through Dave’s startup crowd, and Jee comes to us through Walter and San Francisco meetup activity. Both Lydia and Jee have websites, so expect to see them linked from the alumni page (once I get around to it).

December 2009 also found Sandra S and Jamie Lynn B stopping by for a plate of ham and snort of mulled wine. These ladies are Old Skool Super Tuesday, it was great to see them again. Come back soon!

Remember: Super Tuesday has an alumni page. If you would like to be listed, send an email with your particulars, we’ll make it happen.

Upcoming

  • Walter hosts in Emeryville. It’s the 4th Anniversary, Feb 22, 2010. If you only attend one Super Tuesday in 2010, make it this one. If you only attend one Super Tuesday ever… make it this one!
  • Jackie hosts in Berkeley on March 22, 2010. Jackie’s very close to the College and Ashby intersection. Easy to get to for everyone.
  • Scott and Jolene host at their Little Green House in Alameda on April 26, 2010. Scott and Jolene are very Old Skool Super Tuesday. Actually, they pre-date Super Tuesday, part of the “small circle of friends” Super Tuesday grew out of. (Prize to first person who knows that quote… without looking it up on Wikipedia). Scott and Jolene are a half block from Speisekammer Restaurant, very easy to get to from 880.
  • Sarah takes us back to Oakland on May 24, 2010. Sarah is close to 42nd and Telegraph, again easy to get to. We’ll be outside! Bring your grillables.
  • June is open? Am I missing something? Janet? Jeff? Ben? Someone? Anyone?
