It’s located 3 blocks north of Union Square, right in the heart of the city. There will be ham, mulled wine, and other good stuff. We’re five days after the Solstice, two days after the Christmas, a day after Boxing Day, and the second to last day of Hanukkah this year, so come and decompress with all the Super Tuesday folks.

Sean’s apartment is pretty small, so please send a quick reply with a “yes, I will certainly be there and wouldn’t dream of missing it” message so we know how many to expect.

Doors will open any time after 6:30, so feel free to drop by a little earlier than normal.

Sean’s apartment is a “no-shoe” apartment, so wear clean socks.

Parking: Parking can be tough in the neighborhood, but here’s the inside track: The Sutter-Stockton garage is a block away, and parking on Pine St opens up after 6pm on the left side of the street, after 7pm on the right side (no parking on Pine during commute hours).

Didn’t used to be this way. In fact, Tuesdays used to be so dead, Deacon and I started this Super Tuesday Party thing just to liven up the week once in a while.

Nowadays, even on Super Tuesday there seems to be a half dozen events sorely tempting me to “accidently” forget about Super Tuesday.

But that’s not going to happen. We were here first, dammit!

And we’re not going away. Dammit.

Meet Alohalani!

Summer, it is over. And fall is, falling. And we’re gonna be in the Mission at Pat Lake’s place for Super Tuesday #68.

We’re gonna something else different too: Pakwan!

Yep, we’re doing take out from the Mission’s best South Asian eatery, Pakwan.

There. Will. Be. Buriyani.

And naan, and probably more. Here’s the deal: we’re going to get a tasty order from Pakwan delivered. So feel free to bring something snacky, appetizery, whatever. Once we have critical mass, we’ll call ‘em up and place an order. If you’re feeling broke or, say, parsimonious, that’s ok, there will be enough food for everyone.

The Hula Girlinas

Pat, the way, is animator of no mean talent and growing repute. I’ve been bugging him for years to do more work with the ladies – who I’ve been calling the Hula Girlinas – from one of his short films.

Now, it really is a colossal amount of work to create an animation, very time consuming. So I feel incredibly grateful to present to you my favorite (whom I’ve taken the liberty of naming) Alohalani.

According to teh interwebz, Alohalani is a Hawaiian name meaning “Heavenly love.” (Even if it’s not, let’s pretend it is anyway.)

If you thought that was a hint, well, you might be right: we’re hanging out at Club Mallard for the 65th Super Tuesday.

(And if you tell me whose mantra is “He took a duck in the face at 250 knots.”, either author, book or character, I’ll buy you a Big Burger at Al’s.)

Club Mallard. AKA The Duck. Super mellow, totally chill, not exactly empty on Tuesday evening, but not too crowded either. Might even be a pool table open.

You can find me at Al’s Big Burger just down the road around 7:30, then Mallard around 8 pm.

And finally the weather has turned. We have daylight in the evening. More fog, less rain, and even some warm sunshine. Feels good. Don’t know about you, but that was a long winter and I’m glad it’s over.

We’re doing a happy hour at Hotel W at 6-ish on Friday April 22. A bunch of us did one of these a few weeks ago for The Highwayman’s birthday. Looked almost like a Super Tuesday reunion. We had a blast, and thought “Hey, let’s try that with Super Tuesday for real.”

On the road again…

After a long run at Dos Palmas (RIP the palms, who are no more), we’re making like WIllie and on going on the road again.

For sure we’ll be in San Francisco, possibly twice: once in the Mission and once at Ocean Beach. The Mission is close in, I expect you to be there! Ocean Beach will be in the Sutro Heights area. A far piece, but not as far as Redwood City. Hope you can make it. We’ll have advance dates for both, soon.
