#72 Mid-Winter Modern

by doolin on January 22, 2012

The rain, it has finally started.

We’ll be enjoying a very quiet and comfy Super Tuesday at Dos Palmas on January 22, 2012. The days are getting lighter, but not by much, yet. And it certainly isn’t getting warmer. Good times for hunkering down, telling stories of travels and travails.

If you’re in the neighborhood, or even if you’re not, stop by for a bit.

Please do RSVP, helps for the grocery list.

Tuesday January 24, 2012, 7:30 pm.

#71 Christmas Super Tuesday style

by doolin on December 22, 2011

Celebrate the Christmas Super Tuesday style!

Next Tuesday is the second annual “December Super Tuesday in Sean’s Apartment”.

It’s located 3 blocks north of Union Square, right in the heart of the city. There will be ham, mulled wine, and other good stuff. We’re five days after the Solstice, two days after the Christmas, a day after Boxing Day, and the second to last day of Hanukkah this year, so come and decompress with all the Super Tuesday folks.

Sean’s apartment is pretty small, so please send a quick reply with a “yes, I will certainly be there and wouldn’t dream of missing it” message so we know how many to expect.

Doors will open any time after 6:30, so feel free to drop by a little earlier than normal.

Sean’s apartment is a “no-shoe” apartment, so wear clean socks.

Location:
701 Pine St, Apartment 24
San Francisco (at the corner of Stockton St).

To get in, you gotta call Dave (510-334-4006) or Sean’s (510-541-3320) cell, because the door buzzer isn’t wired up. Someone’ll come down and let you in.

Parking: Parking can be tough in the neighborhood, but here’s the inside track: The Sutter-Stockton garage is a block away, and parking on Pine St opens up after 6pm on the left side of the street, after 7pm on the right side (no parking on Pine during commute hours).

See you there!

#70 Super Thanks for Super Friends

by doolin on November 20, 2011

Super Tuesday always falls just before or just after Thanksgiving. This year it’s just before, giving a Super Start to the Holiday Season.

We’ll be doing up the whole nine yards, supplying the main course and fixins. Bring a side or an appetizer or whatnot. Definitely bring an appetite!

Again, we’ll be at Dos Palmas for this Super Tuesday.

Please RSVP!

#69 Tuesday is the New Black (Super!)

by doolin on October 23, 2011

Everywhere you go, everything is on Tuesday.

Didn’t used to be this way. In fact, Tuesdays used to be so dead, Deacon and I started this Super Tuesday Party thing just to liven up the week once in a while.

Nowadays, even on Super Tuesday there seems to be a half dozen events sorely tempting me to “accidently” forget about Super Tuesday.

But that’s not going to happen. We were here first, dammit!

And we’re not going away. Dammit.

We’re back at Dos Palmas for October:

6016 B Avila Ave
El Cerrito CA 94530
510-334-4006

Anytime after 7:30 is fine.

Upcoming

We’re on the road for the part of the holidays:

  • December 27 at Sean’s (Project Deacon, Union Square SF).

#68 Super Tuesday Mission Bound

by doolin on September 25, 2011

Patrick Lake's Alohalani

Meet Alohalani!

Summer, it is over. And fall is, falling. And we’re gonna be in the Mission at Pat Lake’s place for Super Tuesday #68.

We’re gonna something else different too: Pakwan!

Yep, we’re doing take out from the Mission’s best South Asian eatery, Pakwan.

There. Will. Be. Buriyani.

And naan, and probably more. Here’s the deal: we’re going to get a tasty order from Pakwan delivered. So feel free to bring something snacky, appetizery, whatever. Once we have critical mass, we’ll call ‘em up and place an order. If you’re feeling broke or, say, parsimonious, that’s ok, there will be enough food for everyone.

The Hula Girlinas

Pat, the way, is animator of no mean talent and growing repute. I’ve been bugging him for years to do more work with the ladies – who I’ve been calling the Hula Girlinas – from one of his short films.

Now, it really is a colossal amount of work to create an animation, very time consuming. So I feel incredibly grateful to present to you my favorite (whom I’ve taken the liberty of naming) Alohalani.

According to teh interwebz, Alohalani is a Hawaiian name meaning “Heavenly love.” (Even if it’s not, let’s pretend it is anyway.)

Dog-friendly

We’re dog-friendly at Pat’s place, with friendly dogs. If dogs aren’t your thing, no worries, we have Super Tuesdays every month, we’ll see you in the future.
